Recipe for Cooking a Boneless Turkey Breast Roast ~ Bacon wrapped
Boneless turkey breast roasts are a perfect option for a smaller, easier seasonal meal or any special occasion. Here’s a simple guide for cooking our bacon wrapped turkey breast roasts, with guideline times adjusted for different weights: 1.20Kg, 1.60Kg and 2.00Kg – Please use a thermometer to ensure safe temperatures are achieved.
Ingredients:
- 1 boneless turkey breast roast ~ bacon wrapped
- Black pepper (to taste)
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme or fresh herbs like rosemary, thyme, or sage (optional)
- 1 cup chicken or turkey broth (optional, for basting or pan sauce)
Instructions:
1. Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
2. Prepare the Turkey Breast Roast:
- Remove the turkey breast roast from its packaging and pat it dry with paper towels.
- Season with black pepper, NOT Salt as there’s enough from the Bacon. You can also add dried or fresh herbs like thyme, rosemary, or sage for extra flavor.
3. Place in a Roasting Pan:
- Place the turkey roast on a rack in a roasting pan, or directly in a baking dish. If you prefer, pour 1 cup of chicken or turkey broth into the bottom of the pan to help keep the roast moist during cooking.
Cooking Times by Weight:
These roasts should be cooked until they reach an internal temperature of 74°C (165°F). Use a meat thermometer to ensure accuracy.
- 1.20 kg Roast: Cook for approximately 1 hour 15 minutes.
- 1.60 kg Roast: Cook for approximately 1 hour 40 minutes.
- 2.00 kg Roast: Cook for approximately 2 hours.
After cooking, let the roast rest for at least 10 minutes before slicing. This allows juices to redistribute, making the roast more tender and flavourful.
Glazing Instructions:
- Apply the chosen glaze during the last 20–30 minutes of cooking. Reapply every 5–10 minutes for a richer, caramelized finish.
- Keep an eye on the roast as sugar in the glaze may caramelize quickly; tent with foil if it starts to brown too much.
Serving Suggestion:
Slice the turkey roast, making sure each piece includes some bacon weave, and drizzle with any remaining glaze from the pan.
