Cooking Tips
How to Cook Skirlie
Ingredients:
- Pre-made skirlie
- A little butter or oil (optional, for extra flavour)
- Salt and pepper (to taste, if needed)
Instructions:
- Heat the Pan:
- Place a frying pan on a low heat. If you like, you can add a small amount of butter or oil to the pan to prevent sticking and add extra flavour.
- Reheat the Skirlie:
- Add the pre-made skirlie to the pan and gently raise the temperature to medium heat as the fat melts. Break it up slightly with a spoon or spatula if it’s clumped together.
- Stir occasionally and heat for about 5-7 minutes, or until it’s warmed through and slightly crisped, depending on your preference.
- Season (Optional):
- Taste the skirlie and add a little more salt or pepper if needed. You can also sprinkle in fresh herbs like parsley for extra freshness, though it’s optional.
- Serve:
- Once it’s heated through, remove the skirlie from the pan and serve as a side dish with roasted meats, stews, or poultry.
Alternative Methods:
- Microwave: Place the pre-made skirlie in a microwave-safe dish, cover with a lid or a microwave-safe cover, and heat on medium for about 2-3 minutes, stirring halfway through. Make sure it’s hot all the way through.
- Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C), place the skirlie in an oven-safe dish, cover with foil, and bake for about 10-15 minutes or until heated through.
